DURAL reinforcement mat FGT:

During renovation work, you often come across surfaces that are not sufficiently stable to lay new floor coverings. In addition to damage to the subsurface, you often find that the construction height is too low and you have to deal with complex renovation methods.

The reinforcement mat FGT from DURAL was specially developed to effectively reinforce the substructure of floors and walls. Cracks caused by construction errors or weakness in the material are held together with the help of the reinforcement mat. A further expansion of the cracks is no longer possible. This process is a complete stiffening of the subsurface, which is referred to as “reinforcement”.

In the category decoupling mats we offer further products to prepare your surface.

How to install the FGT reinforcement tile membrane:

Due to the glass fibres contained in the mat, safety gloves must be worn when laying the mat.

  1. Prepare the surface: The substrate must be dry, free of non-adhesive components, stable and level. Any levelling measures must be carried out before the mat is laid.
  2. Apply thin-bed mortar: Thin-bed mortar is applied to the professionally prepared substrate using a 4 x 4 mm notched trowel. For most substrates, a hydraulically setting flexible mortar or fast-setting flexible adhesive in accordance with DIN EN 12004 / C2 can be used.
  3. Lay FGT sheets: Embed the sheets cut to size with the backing fleece into the adhesive over the entire surface. The reinforcement mat must not be clamped force-fit. The sheet is worked in using a pressure roller or other suitable tool.
  4. Tape over mat joints: Always tape over mat joints with e.g. sealing strip WP. Expansion joints must be made watertight with sealing tape in loop form.

Indoors, the tiles can be laid using the thin-bed method immediately after the mat has been bonded. For this purpose, it is advisable to fill the recesses in the mat in a single operation and then comb the thin-bed mortar with the toothing.

For external coverings, do not start laying tiles until the levelling compound has hardened. Protect the material from prolonged exposure to sunlight.

Application area of the DURAL reinforcement tile membrane:

The FGT reinforcement mat is ideal for laying on substrates with insufficient load-bearing capacity, such as:

  1. Old tile coverings
  2. OSB boards
  3. Cracked screed
  4. Vinyl floorsWood floors
  5. Old cracked tiles
  6. Rigips on the wall

The mat ensures complete reinforcement of the substrate, guaranteeing long-term stability and safety.
