Corner angle profile - versatile edge protection:

Our corner protection angle are the best solution to protect your corners and edges from damage. They are usually available in aluminum, stainless steel or plastic. This means that various colors and different surfaces are generally available. In our shop we offer you angles made of powder-coated or anodized aluminum as well as stainless steel.

In addition to protection, corner protection rails can also be counted as a visual eye-catcher. Already damaged corners can be repaired by subsequently installing a corner protection angle can be easily embellished.

Edge protection angles are versatile and can be installed both vertically and horizontally. See for yourself!

In our blog post "Wall edge protection – protection, functionality and aesthetics all in one", you’ll find further information as well as a real-world example from the Karlsruher SC stadium.

The materials of corner protection angles:

There are usually various options for materials. Common materials of corner protection rails include stainless steel or aluminum. Plastic edge protection angle can be found frequently. The individual materials naturally have different advantages:

Stainless steel l-shaped angle profile

Our strips are made of V2A stainless steel and can be normal or triple edged. You can choose between natural and brushed material for the surface. V2A stainless steel is very corrosion-resistant and therefore ideal for outdoor use. Stainless steel strips are the most durable option and offer an elegant look with the various surfaces.

Aluminium angle profiles:

A big advantage of aluminum is that it can be processed in a variety of ways. This includes powder coating or anodizing, which makes different colors possible. We have white, black and silver. Aluminum rails are also corrosion-resistant thanks to the surface treatment and are suitable for medium-heavy loads.

Plastic l-shaped angle profile:

The cheapest alternative is angles made of plastic or PVC. These are of course also available in many colors. Due to the material, plastic edge protection angle only be used indoors. Outdoor use can cause the color to fade and the material can become brittle. Since the material has some disadvantages, we do not offer it in our shop.

Angle profile in use:

Corner protection angle can be used in many areas. They protect corners in warehouses, corridors and even outdoors. Particularly robust versions made of stainless steel are ideal for outdoor use. The subsequent installation of the rails means they can be used very flexibly. Here are some practical examples:

Edge protection angles in warehouses:

Damage caused by heavy equipment or forklifts is part of everyday life in warehouses or other industrial facilities. Our corner protection rails are the best protection against damage caused by accidents. Depending on the color used, they also provide a contrast to the surroundings. This can prevent collisions with corners in advance.

Edge protection angles in corridors:

Corridors in public buildings such as hospitals are often narrow and various mobile carts are pushed through them. Here, our corner protection rails Damage and wear to the corners caused by frequent foot traffic. This keeps the corners looking clean for a long time.

Corner protection angles in outdoor areas:

Straight corner protection angle made of stainless steel are weatherproof and corrosion-resistant, so you can use them outdoors without any worries. No matter which edge you want to protect - with our corner protection angles you get reliable protection.

Questions and answers

A clean, degreased, and sufficiently load-bearing surface is a prerequisite for lasting hold. Dust, grease, old paint, or chalking substrates drastically reduce the adhesive strength.
Procedure in three steps: First, remove dust and loose particles with a damp cloth. Second, degrease with acetone or isopropanol. Third, for rough or absorbent substrates (concrete, plaster, drywall), additionally prime so the adhesive doesn't soak into the substrate.
Differences apply depending on the substrate: Painted steel and tiles only need degreasing. Wood needs priming, especially for outdoor use. Concrete and plaster must be primed. For outdoor areas, only weatherproof adhesives (MS polymer or 2K PU) together with corrosion-free V2A stainless steel are sensible. Unsuitable as adhesives are silicone (too little tensile strength), hot glue (not a permanent solution), and double-sided tape (only provisional).

Aluminium is suitable for indoor areas and protected outdoor areas; stainless steel V2A is the better choice for high load, wet areas, outdoor use, and hygiene environments. We don't offer plastic guards because they become brittle and yellow outdoors.
Aluminium corner guards are corrosion-resistant through anodising or powder coating and available in silver, black, and white — ideal for offices, corridors, hotels, and residential areas. V2A stainless steel is corrosion-free, hygienic, and very robust; the 3-fold bent version increases stiffness even further and is the material of choice for industrial halls, hospitals, and exterior facades.
Practical decision guide: Warehouse or industry with forklifts? Stainless steel. Hospital or hotel corridor? White aluminium or brushed stainless steel. Private home with discreet look? Silver aluminium. Exterior facade or balcony? V2A stainless steel.

The sensible installation height depends on the load source: pedestrian traffic up to 1.50 m, roller carts and wheelchairs up to 1.20 m, forklifts and pallet trucks up to 2.00 – 2.40 m. The lower edge usually starts 10 – 15 cm above the floor so that no water runs behind it during cleaning.
The tirocco corner guards are 250 cm long — one length is enough for most wall corners on a single floor. For tall industrial halls, several lengths can be stacked on top of each other. The leg height (side width of the guard) is chosen according to the load: 15 – 25 mm are enough in residential areas, 30 – 50 mm are standard in commercial areas, 50 – 60 mm for particularly heavy mechanical loads.
Important distinction: A corner guard protects the corner from scratches and impacts. Actual impact protection against forklifts driving into it (bollards, impact-protection arches) is a different product; for very heavy forklifts, it should be placed additionally in front of the corner.

The glued guard can be carefully released from the substrate with a thin spatula. Adhesive residue is then removed with acetone or a special MS polymer adhesive remover.
Three-step procedure: First, lift the guard with a thin spatula or utility knife, working along both sides of the adhesive. Second, pull the guard off slowly — jerky pulling can tear off the wall surface. Third, soak the adhesive residue with acetone or adhesive remover and remove it with a plastic spatula to avoid scratching the surface underneath.
On sensitive surfaces like painted walls or wallpaper, a hair dryer helps: Carefully warm the adhesive, then peel slowly. Residue-free removal is never 100 % guaranteed with professional adhesive mounting — if you plan to remove the guard again later (construction site use, moving), use a screw or magnetic mount instead.

Corner guards protect building corners in four main application areas: industrial and warehouse halls, hospitals and care facilities, public buildings and hotels, and exterior facades and balconies.
In warehouses and industrial halls, forklifts, pallet trucks, and roller containers regularly hit corners — here, aluminium guards in black (contrast) or V2A stainless steel are mostly used. In hospitals, care homes, and hotels, the issue is hospital beds, trolleys, and high-frequency foot traffic; here, white powder-coated aluminium guards are often used, which optically blend in with the wall. Public buildings like train stations or schools need particularly robust stainless steel versions. For exterior facades, terraces, and balconies, only V2A stainless steel or high-quality coated aluminium makes sense.
Distinction from impact walls: Impact walls are large-area, padded wall elements for hospital wards or kindergarten corridors. Corner guards protect the corner at a specific point, not surfaces.

Yes, tirocco corner guards are suitable for both mounting orientations. The direction plays no mechanical role — what matters is the substrate and load.
Vertical mounting on wall corners and columns is the classic application. Horizontally, guards are mounted on worktop edges, shelf and pallet rack edges, ramp edges, or on table corners in public buildings. For horizontal applications on traffic areas, pay attention to rounded visible edges — the 3-fold bent stainless steel version has a rounded outer edge and is the safer choice for pedestrian traffic.
In every case, the same principle applies for installation: Degrease the substrate, apply adhesive as a bead to both legs, fix for 24 hours. For horizontal loading with point loads (escalator, cart), additionally screw-mount.
