Drainage channels & drain channels:

Drainage systems are of paramount importance to efficiently drain of surface water. Standing water is drained through them, thus avoiding expensive water damage. There are two main types of drainage systems. These include the linear drainage and point drainage.

Both systems make a significant contribution to protecting the foundation of the house from moisture damage and ensuring the longevity of the building structure. Below we explain the specific areas of application and advantages of each system:

Linear drainage:

In this system, the water is transported over long distances through drainage channels. It is particularly suitable for large, sealed areas such as terraces, driveways and pool surrounds. Here are some advantages of linear drainage:

  1. high capacity
  2. best solution for large areas
  3. even drainage during heavy rainfall
  4. Avoiding puddles

Point drainage:

Point drainage focuses on collecting water at individual points, usually through gullies. It is ideal for smaller areas and localized water accumulations. The advantages of point drainage are summarized below:

  1. inexpensive
  2. easy installation
  3. space-saving
  4. easy to maintain

However, for point drainage precise planning of the gradients is important to efficiently direct the water to the drains. In heavy rain or on large areas, the limited capacity can quickly become overloaded. Therefore, it is more suitable for smaller areas such as patios or driveways.

Our drainage channels:

With us you will find drainage channels for linear drainage with suitable accessories such as drains and end caps.

You can choose between a plastic gutter with an aluminum grate or a perforated steel gutter. Our drainage channel UD Pro with plastic body is particularly popular on terraces and offers a modern look with the black or silver grate. The perforated stainless steel DW Drain façade channel can be used as a seepage channel, for example.

Function and necessity of drainage channels:

Drainage channels are indispensable for sealed surfaces as they drain water efficiently and thus prevent damage to buildings and facilities. They also contribute to safety by reducing puddle formation and the risk of slipping. Whether for the terrace drainage or on your balcony, you will find the right gutter with us. You can choose between narrow or wide designs, plastic gutter bodies and gutters made of steel. For the grate, you can choose between silver or black or galvanized or normal steel to perfectly suit your needs.

Materials and variants of drainage channels:

In general, the body of drainage channels can be made of different materials. These include plastic, stainless steel, concrete and polymer concrete. For the grate you can usually choose from aluminum or stainless steel. Depending on the material there are different advantages and correspondingly different areas of application. So that you can find the perfect gutter, we will explain the different properties of the materials below.

Materials gutter body:

As already mentioned, the gutter body is available in plastic, stainless steel, concrete or polymer concrete. Below we will take a closer look at the individual materials. Costs, robustness and therefore areas of application naturally vary depending on the material.

Plastic drainage channels:

This type of drain interiors is easy to install and inexpensive. The low weight makes it easy to handle when installing such gutters. Plastic can be easily cut to the required length, so that it can be processed very flexibly. In our range you will find the drainage channel UD Pro - ideal for terraces or balconies.

Stainless steel facade gutters:

This material benefits from its very high load-bearing capacity. The steel is often V2A stainless steel or galvanized steel. This also makes the gutters particularly corrosion-resistant. Stainless steel gutters can also be flexibly shortened to the appropriate length. Make sure to use clean tools to prevent rust or similar. In our shop we offer the stainless steel DW Drain façade channel to.

Concrete drainage channels:

Drainage channels made of concrete are very robust and can withstand higher loads. This makes them particularly suitable for driveways. Concrete gutters are extremely durable and resistant to extreme weather conditions, making them the ideal choice for long-term solutions. However, the high weight also ensures that the processing of such gutters is not as easy as with plastic gutters.

Polymer concrete drainage channels:

This is a hybrid of plastic and concrete gutters, so that the advantages of both types of gutters are combined. Polymer concrete drainage channels are not only lighter than concrete gutters, but also offer high stability and resistance to chemicals and frost. Thanks to the smooth surface of the material, water drains away more efficiently, which makes maintenance easier.

Materials Rust:

The gutter gratings are made of stainless steel, aluminum and plastic. Stainless steel is the most robust but also the most expensive option. Plastic is inexpensive, but is only suitable for areas with low levels of wear and tear. Plastic also tends to fade. Our gutter gratings are made of either aluminum or stainless steel. These materials are corrosion-resistant and versatile.

Areas of application for drainage channels:

As already mentioned, drainage channels are the main component of the linear drainage. Here you can find some examples of common applications of gutters.

  1. Facades: Gutters for facade drainage protect against water damage that can occur due to water seeping through the house wall. For example, the stainless steel DW Drain façade channel is perfect for this.
  2. Terraces / Balconies: By using gutters the formation of puddles is prevented. This means there is no risk of slipping.
  3. Drainage channels for driveways: Collected rainwater can be drained out of driveways by appropriate gutters.
  4. Pool surrounds: Due to overflowing water, the area around the pool is often wet, which poses a risk of slipping. With a suitable gutter this problem is elegantly prevented.

Our drainage channels can be used for all of these areas, except driveways.
