An electric underfloor heating system delivers comfortable warmth right where you need it – directly beneath your feet. Whether you are renovating a bathroom, upgrading a kitchen or adding warmth to a living space, our underfloor heating mats and accessories provide a complete solution for both new builds and refurbishments. The CI-H decoupling mat from DURAL forms the foundation of the system: it decouples the floor covering from the substrate while securely holding the DEVI heating cable within its stud structure. The result is a maintenance-free underfloor heating system with a build-up height of just 6 mm.

The principle is straightforward. The DURABASE CI-H decoupling mat is bonded to the prepared substrate using thin-bed adhesive. Once set, the DEVIcomfort 10T underfloor heating cable is simply clicked into the stud structure of the mat – no additional fixings required. The full layer build-up is as follows:
Starting from the bottom, you have the existing substrate, then tile adhesive, the DURABASE CI-H decoupling mat, the DEVI heating cable seated between the studs, another layer of tile adhesive, and finally the top surface of tiles or natural stone. The entire system is controlled by a DEVI thermostat with a DEVI temperature sensor, allowing precise room-by-room temperature control.
Choosing electric underfloor heating mats over water-based systems offers several practical advantages – particularly when heating individual rooms or during renovation projects:
Because the heating sits invisibly beneath the floor, there is no need for radiators, giving you more freedom in your room design. The even heat distribution from below also creates a comfortable climate with less dust circulation – a real benefit for allergy sufferers.

The DURABASE CI-H system is designed exclusively for use with ceramic tiles and natural stone. These materials are natural heat conductors and store warmth effectively, releasing it evenly into the room. A heated tile floor also dries faster after use – especially handy in bathrooms. Other floor coverings such as vinyl, laminate or carpet are not suitable for this system.
One of the key advantages of the DURABASE CI-H is its versatility when it comes to substrates. The mat can be installed on:
This makes the system particularly well suited for renovation projects. The decoupling function compensates for movement in the substrate and prevents cracks from transferring through to the tile surface.
While the benefits are substantial, there are a few points worth considering. Running costs can be higher than water-based systems when used as the sole heat source over large areas. For this reason, an electric underfloor heating kit is often best suited as a comfort or supplementary heating solution for individual rooms. Heavy furniture and thick rugs should not be placed on heated areas, as they restrict heat output. Additionally, the electrical connection of the thermostat and heating cables must be carried out by a qualified electrician.
The required heat output depends on the room type and the level of floor insulation. By adjusting the cable spacing within the stud structure, you can tailor the performance to each room:
| Room Type | Recommended Heat Output |
|---|---|
| Dry rooms with insulated floors | ≥ 100 W/m² |
| Floors without thermal insulation | 130–160 W/m² |
| Wet rooms (e.g. bathrooms) | 150–180 W/m² |
The DEVIcomfort 10T heating cables are available in 13 different lengths ranging from 10 to 170 m. The closer the cable is spaced within the mat, the higher the heat output per square metre. This allows you to fine-tune the system precisely to each room's requirements.
A complete installation requires three components: the decoupling mat, the heating cable and a thermostat with temperature sensor. In this category you will find everything perfectly matched – all from the partnership between DURAL and DEVI (by Danfoss), meeting the highest quality standards.
